Facial Trauma

Facial Trauma to the teeth, jaw bone, or face including facial or oral lacerations, broken or knocked out teeth, and fractured jaw or facial bones can be treated by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

When there is a cut to the face or in the mouth, stitches are placed to close the wound utilizing a technique that will heal with minimal scarring.

Facial fractures can not be stabilized using a cast like other broken bones in the body. Instead, screws, plates and wires are used to stabilize the facial bones.

Dental injuries including a broken or cracked tooth, or severe cases including multiple teeth being broken, being broken at the socket or completely knocked out can be treated by an oral surgeon. If a tooth or teeth cannot be saved, options for tooth replacement will be discussed.
