IV Sedation

IV sedation dentistry is a form of conscious sedation to help you relax during your appointment. IV sedation does not put you fully to sleep, it makes you less aware of your surroundings and anything the dentist may be doing in your mouth. You can still respond to verbal commands and gentle nudging. Unlike other forms of sedation like nitrous oxide or pills, the dentist administers the sedation through your vein.

IV sedation provides several benefits. Because the sedation is administered through your vein it starts working quickly, and you feel minimal to no pain. Your vitals are monitored and the dosage can easily be adjusted. When you wake up you won’t remember the procedure due to a period of amnesia. Lastly, it allows you to cooperate for an extended period of time so your dentist can perform the procedure.
