Implants

Dental implants replace the root of the tooth. Implants offer a strong foundation for replacement teeth that are made to match the rest of your teeth.

Dental implants help with the appearance of your smile and your speech as they look and feel like your natural teeth. Dental implants provide comfort and durability allowing you to eat without pain or discomfort as they function just as your normal teeth. When properly cared for, a dental implant will last a lifetime.

The process of placing an implant can take some time. First, a small post is placed into the bone socket where the missing tooth is. As the jawbone heals, it will grow around the post attaching it to the jaw. After the healing process is finished, a connector post (abutment) is attached to the post to securely hold the new tooth. Impressions of your teeth are taken and a new tooth is created (a crown). This crown is then attached to the abutment.

A patient considering dental implants should have healthy gums and enough bone to hold the implant. They also must be committed to good oral hygiene and regular dental visits.
